Capability

Export and protective packaging.

Packaging for products that travel long distances, change hands several times or cannot be allowed to fail. Triple wall cases, moisture-resistant constructions, fittings and specialist packs, specified by RightBox and supplied through the partner network.

Formats

What this covers.

Each format solves a different problem. The right one depends on the product, the route it takes and what happens at the other end.

Export transit cases

Triple wall and heavy double wall constructions for long sea and road journeys, where handling is outside your control.

FEFCO 0203

Moisture-resistant packs

Coated and treated boards for humid routes and long storage, where ordinary board loses compression strength.

Board grades

Fittings, partitions & inserts

Internal structures that stop movement, separate components and take shock away from the product.

Discuss fittings

Pallet wrap bases

Constructions that unitise a load on its pallet for stability through multiple handling points.

FEFCO 0452

Timber, plywood & hybrid cases

Where corrugated alone will not do it, heavier cases and crates can be sourced through the partner network.

Discuss hybrid

Specialist & regulated packs

Dangerous goods constructions, liquid packs and battery packaging, specified to the relevant requirements.

Specification

What decides the specification.

Journey length and mode

Sea freight, long road routes and multi-leg journeys each stress packaging differently, and sea adds humidity on top of handling.

Humidity and storage

Board absorbs moisture from the air and loses compression strength as it does. Cold chain, tropical routes and long warehouse storage all need allowing for.

Handling points

Every transfer is a chance for damage. The more hands a consignment passes through, the more the construction has to carry.

Product value

Replacement cost, lead time and reputational damage decide how much protection is worth buying.

Regulatory requirements

Dangerous goods, food contact and battery shipments carry their own packaging rules, which have to be built into the specification.

Destination recycling

What happens to the pack at the far end matters for both cost and compliance reporting.

How it is supplied

Protection you can evidence.

  • Constructions specified against the actual journey, not a generic export grade
  • Board grades chosen on ECT and BCT performance where stacking and storage demand it
  • Samples and trials before a specification goes live on an export line
  • Fittings and partitions designed around the product, not adapted from stock
  • Documentation and material data available for compliance and customs requirements
  • Supplied through partner sites across 7 countries, so packaging is made near the point of use
Questions

Common questions.

What board grade do I need for export?

It depends on weight, stacking height, humidity and how many times the consignment is handled. Triple wall is common for heavy or high-value export, but a well-specified double wall with the right fittings often performs better for the money. We confirm it against your actual route.

Does corrugated survive sea freight?

Yes, with the right specification. The main risk is humidity, which reduces compression strength over a long voyage. Coated or treated boards and a grade specified with that loss allowed for are what make the difference.

Can you supply timber cases and crates?

Heavier cases, crates and hybrid constructions can be sourced through the partner network where corrugated alone will not do the job. Tell us the product and the route and we will advise.

Do you handle dangerous goods packaging?

Constructions can be specified to dangerous goods requirements where needed. The specification has to be confirmed against the relevant regulations for your product and route.

Can packaging be made in the destination country?

Often, yes. With 43 partner sites across 7 countries, producing nearer the point of use can cut both freight and lead time on international programmes.

Next step

Tell us where it has to get to.

Send us the product, the route and what happens at each end. We will specify the construction and board, and supply it from the partner site that makes most sense for the journey.
